In 1910, citizens of Georgetown voted to be annexed by Seattle after issues with 24 hour saloons that resulted in a city order for them to be closed at 1 am. By 1998, Georgetown served as a workplace for over 12,000 people, but a home to only 1,500. Currently, the population of Georgetown stands at 23,639. 12,030 are male and 11,609 are female.
